"any place, situation, etc., tending to teach anything."
School should be conducive to creativity. Knowledge outside of a building. Not a restriction of what we learn, but that we learn. School right now, is a building, a prison cell if you will. I know other countries in poverty are glad, even privileged to learn. However, this country has forgotten the feeling of learning. The widespread knowledge of why we should learn. We should learn for the want. Because we want to imprint ourselves into the future.
"This kid is destined for greatness."
This is what the school system should be saying. Every child, is destined for greatness. Thus, should be treated that way. School should have teachers and students that value each other. In life we all have to get along. Personally, my best friend in 6th grade was my teacher. He still is a good family friend. School isn't supposed to be a forced enemy.
My ideal school.
My ideal high school would be a building like Google. A fun environment. Where you choose to learn. Even though adults think that teenagers, well most, are incapable of making wise choices. We crave that knowledge when it's fun. We crave that feeling of doing something right, and making ourselves proud. I would also hire more teachers. Teachers that want to teach in depth. To teach for the love of giving knowledge. I would take away most technology. Technology restricts the human connection. I also want the option of taking classes the make the skills you have, even better. I would create classes that take the soon-to-be adults into a Adult environment, the world in front of them. That way they can learn everyday skills, that so many are lacking of. I also think it should be regular for teachers to teach students outside. Nature inspires. Animals should be in school as well. Even if it's an attached building, because animals teach kindness, respect, loyalty, and change attitudes drastically. I could go on and on and on about what I would add. In fact, I already made a plan for a innovative school, that I plan on funding and creating in the near future.
